This is a picture that I took of a DC-3C at sunrise. My Dad was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force for 22 years and since his retirement in 1998, he's worked as the main mechanic at a county airport in Kentucky. As I was out taking pictures at o'dark thirty in the morning, I was able to talk with my Dad about this particular plane and he made me start thinking about things I hadn't really considered before. As I stood watching the sun rise on this very cool plane, my Dad stood next to me waxing philosophical about how he likes to imagine all the different people who have worked on this plane over the years and about the amazing women who most likely built this plane. That got me to thinking about this particular plane and it's probable history which led me to doing some research. FYI, that's probably the weirdest, "I discovered my passion for...

Amber, your description is full of fascinating information, and the image is stunning. I love the darkness of it, which seems so appropriate now that these planes are no longer in use. You've captured this vintage plane beautifully. I remember taking a DC-3 from Fresno to Bakersfield when one of the propellors went out. The pilot tried to put the passengers at ease by saying, "Don't worry. We have another one."

LOL!! I love it Connie! Thanks for your comment, I really enjoyed reading it. :)
